The 10th EARNet Symposium was held at the University of Parma, Italy on September 6th and 7th, 2019.  

48 papers were presented and discussed in 16 parallel sessions. The Symposium’s key note speech was given by David Hay (University of Auckland). The Symposium’s Panel session focused on “Audits in a digitalized world – What’s new?”.

A Ph.D. workshop preceded the symposium on Thursday, Spetember 5th, 2019.

The Best Paper Award was won by two papers:

  • “The Effect of Audit Partner Equity Incentives on Audit Quality by Marie-Laure Vandenhaute (Vrije Universiteit Brussel); Kris Hardies (Universiteit Antwerpen)
  • “Who Makes Partner in Big 4 Audit Firms by Benedikt Downar (Technical University of Munich); Jürgen Ernstberger (Monash University); Christopher Koch (Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz)
